🔹 MEDICARE NOTE🔹
Adaptable Abodes is private pay only – we do not bill Medicare for these preventative services.
Medicare only covers a few medically necessary items, like a walker or a wheelchair (every 5 years) when prescribed by a doctor.
Medicare Does N🚫T Cover:
Home remodels (e.g., widening doorways, ramps, roll-in showers)
Grab bars or safety rails
Shower chairs, bath benches, handheld shower heads
Non-medical home equipment (e.g., stair lifts, ceiling lifts, hospital beds “for comfort”)
Smart home technology or fall prevention upgrades
Long-term caregiver help (bathing, dressing, toileting, cooking assistance)
Assisted living costs
✅ Note:
While Medicare doesn’t cover construction or remodeling, a Medicare Part A or B Home Health OT can recommend durable medical equipment (DME) and home safety strategies as part of a medically necessary care plan.
If you have an acute medical necessity and qualify for Medicare-covered Home Health OT, I will refer you to a provider who can bill Medicare for short-term, medically necessary care.
Otherwise, we provide assistance with identifying funding sources (grants, loans, long term care insurance benefits, financing options, Veteran benefits), and connect clients with vetted professionals (see below).
